Birthday Celebration Guidelines

 

Kreinhop Birthday Celebration Guidelines

 

The Texas Education Code 28.002 (L-3) (1) permits parents/guardians or grandparents to provide a birthday snack for their child’s birthday.  The following guidelines apply to such snacks:

 

·      Parents/guardians are encouraged to obtain snacks through the Klein ISD Nutrition & Food Services Department.  With advance notice, the Nutrition & Food Services Department can provide a choice from an assortment of snacks.  Please visit www.kleinisd.net – Child Nutrition Department to view cost and availability.

 

·      A two-week advance written notice emailed to the nurse (kahebert@kleinisd.net) is required of the parent/ guardian who wishes to provide a birthday treat. The written notice needs to include the specific treat that will be provided along with the list of ingredients.  (This allows the nurse adequate time to check for allergies and restrictions).

 

·      Any parent/guardian who wishes to provide a birthday snack must purchase store bought, individually wrapped items OR they can purchase a packaged item from Klein ISD Nutrition and Food Services. This is the approved and suggested list of store bought items: Any Hostess Product, (many parents like the Celebration Cupcake), indiviual chip bags, Rice Crispy Treat.

 

 

Parents are encouraged to provide a non-food treat for their child’s birthday celebrations, such as pencils, pens, or stickers when possible.  If a food treat is preferred, we kindly ask that you follow the guidelines listed above.
